Miranda Lambert wants her fans to know that weight loss surgery is not the reason for her recent shedding of pounds. The country superstar credits diet and exercise for her new look, and isn't happy with tabloid reports that she went under the knife to lose weight.

Lambert posted an angry open letter to fans on her official website to clarify the matter. The feisty Texan's message states:

"Though I NEVER care what the tabloids have to say about me… I wanted to address this certain story they are running this week and set the record straight. I DID NOT have surgery to lose weight. That is ridiculous. I lost my weight the healthy and good old fashioned way"

Miranda went on to explain that the 'old fashioned way' includes watching what she eats and working out (with help from a personal trainer). She also says she's not sure exactly how much weight she has lost, because she's not keeping track. She explains:

"Like I have always said, it’s not about a scale, it’s about how you feel and how your jeans fit."

Fair enough. While panning the tabloids one more time, Miranda took the opportunity to send out words of encouragement to her fans, too:

"So for anyone who is tempted to read the “Trash Talk” please don’t. I am proud to be a normal size girl and I want to encourage everyone to be confident at any size."

It appears that, after years of ignoring the tabloid headlines rumoring divorce, pregnancy and other untrue nonsense about Miranda and her husband Blake Shelton, the tabloids have finally got her to speak out. It's nice to see that, even though Lambert is obviously irritated, she put a positive spin on the situation. Classy!

In other Miranda Lambert news, she is nominated for 4 American Country Awards, including Female Artist of the Year. The 2013 American Country Awards will air live from Las Vegas on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00pm CT on FOX.
