Matthew White, who started at center for the University of Pennsylvania when it reached the Final Four in 1979, was stabbed to death by his wife Monday after she reportedly discovered he had been looking at child pornography.

White was sleeping in bed in their Nether Providence, Pennsylvania home when his wife, Maria Garcia-Pellon, allegedly stabbed him in the neck.

Afterwards, Garcia-Pellon went to a friend’s house and said White, 53 had been looking at pornography and she killed him. The friend then called 911. Garcia-Pellon reportedly told authorities, “I caught him looking at pornography, young girls, I love kids. I had to do it."

Investigators found White dead in his bed. Garcia-Pellon has been charged with first degree murder, criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime

White was the starting center on Penn’s 1979 Final Four team – the only time the Quakers ever made the Final Four. That team lost to eventual national champion Michigan State, which was led by Magic Johnson.

White, who reportedly worked in education management at the time of his death, was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers and played professionally in Spain.
