Star Wars 1313 isn’t the only Star Wars game in Limbo over at LucasArts. Kotaku recently revealed details about an Xbox Live Arcade game named Star Wars: First Assault. The game was going to be a first person shooter and would have been a “step zero” to Star Wars: Battlefront III.

The game was your fairly standard multiplayer shooter. Games supported up to sixteen players, eight on each side. Players would be able to take control of either the Rebels or the Stormtroopers and would face off on maps based on iconic Star Wars locales such as Tatooine.

Star Wars: First Assault, was originally leaked on October 1st last year by way of an Xbox Marketplace listing. The game was supposed to be out this spring, however after Disney bought out LucasFilm/LucasArts, all work on Star Wars titles was frozen. As of now it is uncertain as to whether or not the game will ever see the light of day.

Star Wars: First Assault was meant to be an experiment in showing that there was still interest in the Star Wars brand floating around the gaming fanbase. If the game was a success, the team would have used it as a springboard to begin development on Battlefront III.

Luckily, there is a way to save First Assault and Battlefront III. First Assault was all part of a strategy to show that the gamers really do have interest in Star Wars shooters. If fans show that interest, both of these games have a chance to shine again. "Fans should tell Disney/Lucas loud and clear they don't want sh*tty titles from random developers; they want games to be taken seriously, and they will only pay for quality," Kotaku’s source said. "I believe that if Disney/Lucas lets LucasArts die, it means the death of Star Wars as a storied game franchise is right behind it."

Looks like gamers want more than just pinball for their Star Wars universe.
