The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry will soon marry Major League Baseball player J.P. Arencibia, her boyfriend of less than two years. The relationship was something of an open secret, with neither one commenting on it publicly until after the Sept. 30 proposal. Even Perry's brothers kept quiet when asked about the relationship in 2013. So, who is Kimberly Perry's husband-to-be?

The Cuban-American was born in South Florida and raised in Miami, but went to college at the University of Tennessee. In 2007, he was drafted in the first round by the Toronto Blue Jays and made his Major League debut in 2010. Arencibia has been the team's starting catcher since 2011, but he'll need to improve his batting average to keep the job. He's a career .212 hitter with 64 home runs in 380 games.

Nashville is Arencibia's off-season home, which is convenient for the happy couple. Even though he spends six months of the year in Canada, Perry says she never feels emotionally or spiritually separated from her man. "I’ve never felt that with anyone before,” she shares. “He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.”

The two met after the catcher saw the video for 'If I Die Young.' Through a friend he arranged a chance to meet her at the Florida Strawberry Festival, and they exchanged phone numbers. From February 2012 through October 2013 the couple dated in secret, although media began to catch on in February 2013. Still Perry refused to talk about the romance, but shared the full romantic story of their proposal shortly after it took place.

A summer 2014 wedding is planned for Perry and Arencibia. Since the Blue Jays' schedule only leaves spot days off during the summer, the weekend of the All Star Game seems like a likely time to say their 'I dos.'

The name J.P. Arencibia appears on several Facebook accounts, but none appear to be a public page for the ballplayer. He used to tweet, until shutting his account down in July 2013 after a controversy involving two Blue Jays commentators. According to ESPN, the baseball player made just over $505,000 in 2013.
