A team of dancers caged Kelsea Ballerini midway through her 2018 CMA Awards performance of "Miss Me More," but the newly married singer ended up on top.

Using steel chairs to box the singer in, the breakdance troop trapped Ballerini as she sang about realizing that she missed who she used to be more than the jerk who broke her heart. The crew arguably stole the show, acting out her emotions early on during hour one CMA Awards performance before trapping her and finally falling away.

Ballerini wrote many of the songs from her most recent Unapologetically album about her ex-boyfriend, with the rest being about new love and hubs Morgan Evans. "Miss Me More" is definitely an ex song, but one that finds Ballerini making that transition. The dancers wore white and charcoal uniforms, while the 25-year-old singer started in a plum jacket and pants before shedding it to reveal a white top that paired with the white slash across the top of her pants.

Ballerini is a Female Vocalist of the Year nominee, as well. Prior to the CMA Awards she said she didn't feel she had much of a chance at winning an awards that seemingly always goes to Miranda Lambert. Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves are also nominated.

The 2018 CMA Awards took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 14). Early highlights included Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton's two wins and a baby gender reveal from Underwood.
