Watch Clips From ‘Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Tale’
Kelly Clarkson's first-ever holiday special, 'Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Tale,' aired Wednesday night (Dec. 11), and it was as good as you'd have guessed it would be. We've gathered some of our favorite clips so that you can experience the magic again and again ... and again!
In the opening skit, Clarkson sat down with her 'team' (consisting of Ken Jeong and Jai Rodriguez) to brainstorm a few ways to get her name higher in the Google world and bring up her stockability. She eventually pitched them the idea for her Christmas show after a few hilarious suggestions from Jeong like checking into rehab or winning 'The Voice.'
The songstress is hilarious as a self-involved diva, bound and determined to find the biggest stars to guest in her special. She approaches superstars Robin Williams, Natalie Cole, Whoopi Goldberg, Heidi Klum and Danica Patrick, asking them to appear on her show, and instead, they point her to Blake Shelton. But instead of asking him, Clarkson tried to finagle him into hemming and ironing her clothing. Who she really wanted was George Clooney!
And, while we shared the beautiful rendition of 'Silent Night' that featured Clarkson, Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood, what you didn't know is this: they appeared only after having lunch with the 'Wrapped in Red' starlet -- which is when she threatened to share unflattering photos of them with TMZ if they didn’t sign on to her show.
'Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Tale' also had cameos by Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, William Shatner, and all of the comedy was brought together by a little girl reading a story similar to 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.' It was essentially all about the singer putting her show together -- and failing miserably.
The tale only got more hilarious, but ended with the 31-year-old discovering the true meaning of Christmas. And, despite her initial presumptions, it doesn't involve Clooney, fame, or fortune.
Throughout the show, Clarkson wore various shades of red and sang several hits from 'Wrapped in Red,' including ‘My Favorite Things,’ 'Underneath the Tree,' ‘Please Come Home for Christmas’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.' Clarkson gave it her all in this heartfelt, meaningful, and very, very funny Christmas tale.
