Kelly Clarkson gave Blake Shelton's "Boys 'Round Here" a girl-power twist during a recent appearance in the country star's home state of Oklahoma. Readers can press play below to watch a clip of the performance, which took place at Tulsa's BOK Center on Feb. 8.

Clarkson dove into "Boys 'Round Here" but made a few notable changes to the lyrics: She switched out the "red-red-red-red-red-red-red-red-redneck," for "red-red-red-red-red-red-red-red-red lips," and turned the title line into "girls 'round here." She was "talkin' 'boy boys / Talkin' 'bout trucks" and "drinkin' that ice-cold beer" just like Shelton and his guys.

Clarkson admitted to the audience that choosing which Shelton song to cover while she was in his neck of the woods was a challenge: “It’s hard to pick just one because he’s got, like, a billion No. 1s ... I’m like over here working my tail off. Brother is just pooping out No. 1s left and right. I don’t even get it." Clarkson joked, adding that she was looking for a cover that would get under Shelton's skin a little, “because that’s how I am with him. He probably can’t stand me, but no one can stand their sisters, right?”

Shelton must not have minded too much: He shared the performance on his Twitter feed, giving his fellow coach from The Voice a shout-out. "Kelly Clarkson done gone and changed "Boys’ Round Here" y’all!" he writes.

Clarkson has been on the road for her Meaning of Life Tour since the beginning of 2019; she is joined by opening acts Kelsea Ballerini as well as The Voice alum Brynn Cartel. Shelton, meanwhile, recently began his 2019 Friends and Heroes Tour, which will run through late March.
