Kellie Pickler's "If It Wasn't For a Woman" isn't just a sweet piano ballad, it also serves as a tribute to one of the most important people in her life.

Pickler penned the song with her husband Kyle Jacobs and close friend Brian Bunn about her grandmother Faye, a woman she cites as an influential mother figure. "It's such a special song because it's about a special person that I was blessed to call 'mom,'" Pickler explains to Taste of Country. "We're inspired by her."

The three sat around the kitchen table on the anniversary of Faye's passing, thinking about what made her -- and the other strong women in their lives -- so inspiring. But it was also significant for Pickler to write such a personal song with someone just as important to her.

"Being able to write something like 'If It Wasn't For a Woman' with my husband is so wonderful; nobody knows me better than him," she says. "So it was really sweet that we were able to write that together at our kitchen table with our good friend Brian and just shine a light on her love and her strength and wisdom, and just honor her and all of the strong women that both Kyle and [Brian] and I have in our lives."

This is just one way in which Pickler has honored the powerful women that raised her. She also wrote a song titled "Selma Drye" about her other grandmother, and named her home goods line after that inspiring woman.

Fans can catch Pickler and co-host Ben Aaron every weekday morning on the syndicated talk show Pickler & Benexecutive produced by Faith Hill.
