Keith Urban is one of the five nominees for Entertainer of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards. If he wins, it'll be his second victory in the category; the country star last won Entertainer of the Year at the annual awards show in 2005 -- a win, Urban admits, he thought came too soon.

"I was shocked beyond shocked because my first thought was like, 'It's too soon,'" Urban admits to Taste of Country. "I felt very scared, like, 'Don't peak my career now, I'm just getting started!'"

When Urban won CMA Entertainer of the Year in 2005, it was his first year nominated in the category -- and "you usually don't win the first year you're nominated," he reflects.

"Usually, the rhythm is you get nominated and, 10 years later, you finally win it," Urban adds, "so I was really really shocked that it happened."

Urban was nominated for CMA Entertainer of the Year every year from 2005 through 2011. He received his next nod in the category in 2014, follows by nominations in 2016, 2017 and now 2018.

Urban's 2018 CMA Awards Entertainer of the Year competition comes from Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney and Chris Stapleton. He's also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2018 CMAs, and will be performing during the show.

The 2018 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 14, at 8PM ET. The ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will co-host for the 11th consecutive year.
