Kacey Musgraves picked up an impressive six 2013 CMA Award nominations. That ties her with megastar Taylor Swift. So, one can only imagine Kacey was doing double backflips by the time they announced her name for the 6th time. But that wasn't the case. She was sleeping.

Musgraves admitted that when this year's CMA nominations were announced live on Good Morning America, she had a little bit too much fun the night before, out parting with friends. So when Kacey got a phone call waking her up with the great news, she still wasn't ready to do those backflips. According to Country Weekly, Kacey said:

“I was like, ‘Hello?’ I was really hungover [laughs].  I was laying in my bed, and I knew that nominations were coming out, but I didn’t know what to expect or whatever. I didn't have my alarm set to check on anything.”

Kacey has since caught wind of her accomplishment. Musgraves' six CMA nominations include nods for Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year ('Same Trailer, Different Park), and both Song and Single of the Year ('Merry Go Round'). She also co-wrote 'Mama's Broken Heart' with Miranda Lambert.

Even if she wasn't nursing a hangover, the 'Merry Go Round' hitmaker is generally known for her cool and collected attitude. So I wouldn't bet she'd be glued to the TV set waiting for her name to be announced. But Kacey is thrilled with the honors. She states:

“It’s mind-blowing to me, and just the things that can happen in a year, you know. I’ve been on some amazing tours and gotten to see a lot of the world. You know, radio’s been really great to me. I just feel very embraced by country, and I think that’s more than I could ask for.”

The ceremony for the 2013 CMA Awards will air Sunday, November 6th at 7pm on ABC-TV. The show will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
