After a slow few weeks, Warner Bros. is finally starting to get public with their big plans for building a DC superhero movie universe to rival Marvel. Despite their shockingly quiet Comic-Con, they went ahead and announced plans to pump out two movies a year through 2020, announcing dates but no titles. Fan speculation ran rampant: 'Justice League'? A new Batman movie? 'Shazam' starring Dwayne Johnson? All of this is still cloaked in shadows and fog, but answers may arrive sooner than you think.

In an EW article about the cancelled box office showdown between 'Captain America 3' and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman teased that many of those untitled movies will start being revealed very soon, possibly by the end of the month. When asked if a 'Justice League' movie would arrive in 2016, hot on the heels of 'Batman v Superman,' Fellman broke out a cryptic non-answer:

“While it hasn’t been officially announced, I think it’s a pretty good bet.”

Does that mean 'Justice League' will be the August 5, 2016 movie on their schedule? It seems likely. It seems especially likely when you remember the rumors from awhile back that suggested that 'Batman v Superman' and 'Justice League' would film simultaneously.

Of course, the next big question is who will fill out of the Justice League roster besides Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, and director Zack Snyder may have already tipped his hand. When the hosts of a Detroit radio show started making fun of Aquaman on the air, they received a phone call from Snyder himself, who leapt to the hero's defense and explained why he's a badass:

I don’t want to give anything away about the movie or anything ... but Aquaman has some cool abilities. I think people are like, “What, does he talk to animals or fish?” That’s what people think. The cool thing with Aquaman is that his trident, it could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact - that’s in the canon. He’s super strong because he can exist at these depths. Not to say he’s in my movie or anything like that, but I’m just saying he has the potential to be pretty badass, that's all I'm saying.

We've been hearing for awhile now that Aquaman would cameo in 'Batman v Superman' and that he'd be played by 'Game of Thrones' star Jason Momoa. If this is true (and we think it is), it would exist mainly to set up his appearance as a member of the team in 'Justice League.' After all, why else would Snyder actually go out of the way to defend the honor of a superhero he wasn't actively putting in his movie?

So there you go: 'Justice League' will very likely open on August 5, 2015 and the line-up will include Jason Momoa's Aquaman.
