'S.H.I.E.L.D.,' assemble!  While we still don't know how exactly Clark Gregg will return to reprise the role of Agent Phil Coulson in ABC and Joss Whedon's upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, we've at least got the first assuredly living casting.  Former 'ER' doc Ming-Na will add a few new letters to her resume as one of the new agents to be featured in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, but what role will she play?  And what's changed about the original casting?

While yesterday brought big Marvel news in the form of the 'Iron Man 3' trailer, today we've learned a bit of Marvel news from the smaller screen side of things.  According to Deadline, former 'ER' star Ming-Na is the first new cast member to join Marvel's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series.  Co-penned and directed by Joss Whedon, the series takes place within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but won't incorporate any of the big superhero names early on.

Ming-Na will take the role of Agent Melinda May, believed to be re-written from the casting sheet role of Agent Althea Rice, "The Cavalry."  Described as "soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences," Ming-Na's Melinda is also an expert pilot and weapons specialist frequently known to go above and beyond the call of duty.

As reported and gloriously revered by fanboys throughout the world, the only other actor yet cast in Marvel's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series is that of Clark Gregg, reprising the role of Agent Phil Coulson despite his apparent death in the climax of 'The Avengers.'

Do you think Ming-Na makes a good addition to the Marvel universe?  Tell us who else you want to see join the cast of ABC's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series in the comments!
