Jordan Rager first found his way into the national spotlight in 2012, when he took part in Season 2 of The Voice in 2012, landing on Blake Shelton's team before being eliminated during the show's Battle Rounds. His debut single, "Southern Boy," a collaboration with friend and fellow artist Jason Aldean, dropped in 2016.

Below, Rager recalls the moment he heard himself on country radio for the very first time. It's a memory made in his hometown, with some of the people who have watched his career progress from the very start.

I was in my hometown of Loganville, Ga. I didn’t know what to think at first. Being with my family, I figured my mom or dad [had] started playing it on their phones.

Once I realized it was on the radio I got pretty fired up. Mom was crying, Dad was giving me high fives from the front seat; it was great.

It was on my hometown radio station that I grew up listening to -- that was pretty cool. Also, we were on the way to my mom’s birthday dinner, so I had my whole family with me at the time.
