John Oates has spent his career in the pop/rock genre as one half of Hall & Oates. He may be following the likes of Darius Rucker, Aaron Lewis and Sheryl Crow out of his original comfort zone, and into country music. For his newest project, 'Good Road to Follow,' Oates has called on country legend Vince Gill to produce a song, as well as Nathan Chapman, well known for working with Taylor Swift.

Specific details are unknown as to what direction the songs that Chapman and Gill are helping with will take. We do know that 'Good Road To Follow' will have Oates releasing a single each month for the next year, rather than putting out a full length album. Every song is done with a different producer and a different co-writer.

It's a testament to country music's scope, since Oates sought out a country artist and someone who has worked with another country act as participants. We're sure each will bring their unique flavor and flair to their respective songs.

Oates told NashvilleGab.com:

"I reached out to the songwriters, musicians and producers that I respect and asked them if they would work with me on one individual song. It was a pure collaboration from writing to recording. My idea was to share an intense creative experience and not get bogged down in a long drawn out album project."

Don't bank on Oates' music project to be a complete transformation to country music, as he has also enlisted the talents of pop acts OneRepublic and Hot Chelle Rae on upcoming tracks. There's no timeline set for the release of Oates' work with Gill and Chapman.
