Joel Crouse got a sweet birthday surprise on June 14, when thousands of his 'closest friends' sang 'Happy Birthday' to the newly 22-year-old singer.

Just after finishing his set for the Taste of Country event in Buffalo, New York, Crouse was pulled back onstage to celebrate his birthday. Local station WYRK even surprised the singer with a giant guitar-shaped cake and a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday' ... sung by the entire arena of fans. Talk about hard to top!

Crouse just so happens to share a birthday with fellow country singer Lucy Hale (someone he's been spending a lot of quality time with), who also wished the 'Why God Made Love Songs' singer a happy birthday via Twitter:

The sweet fan performance was certainly a great way to ring in 22, but Crouse may have been even more pleased to return to the stage. A serious car accident in May left his car on its roof and left him pretty banged up. Thankfully, he is okay.

It's a good thing he's feeling better -- Crouse still has lots of shows coming up this summer, including an appearance at the famed Grand Ole Opry. See concert dates on the singer's official website.
