Joe Carnahan is moving from wolves in the wild to soldiers in Boston for his next prospective project: an adaptation of the Chuck Hogan novel ‘Devils in Exile,’ re-titled ‘Sugar Bandits’ for the big screen.

THR reports that Joe Carnahan is looking for his follow-up to ‘The Grey’ and is currently in talks to direct ‘Sugar Bandits,’ based on the novel ‘Devils in Exile’ by Chuck Hogan. Hogan also wrote the novel on which Ben Affleck‘s ‘The Town’ was based and co-authored ‘The Strain’ with Guillermo del Toro.

Hogan wrote the screenplay for ‘Sugar Bandits,’ which follows an Iraq war veteran who returns home to Boston and finds that his prospects are rather bleak. The soldier teams up with a few of his fellow veterans to rip off some drug dealers, but things go south pretty quick, especially when our lead starts sleeping with his boss’ girlfriend.

Carnahan was set to helm a remake of ‘Death Wish,’ but the project fell apart when the director butted heads with Paramount over casting. His previous films include ‘Smokin’ Aces’ and ‘Narc,’ but he really proved himself last year with the sorrowful action flick ‘The Grey,’ starring Liam Neeson in the ultimate tale of man versus nature.
