Game of Thrones behind him, Jason Momoa’s film future seemed reasonably solid (and liquid) as the Aquaman to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but that isn’t stopping the former Khal Drogo from taking on a new TV role. Momoa will apprently headline a new Netflix series titled Frontier, set against the backdrop of the 18th century fur trade.

Per TVLine, Frontier has received a six-episode series order with Momoa in the lead role, as directed by San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton, and creators Rob and Peter Blackie. Told from multiple perspectives to chronicle the chaotic and violent struggle of wealth and power in the North American fur trade, the logline for Netflix’s Frontier describes the drama as set:

In a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.

Set to debut in 2016, the new series also stars Braveheart star Alun Armstrong, Hemlock Grove alum Landon Liboiron, Downton Abbey resident Zoe Boyle, as well as Allan Hawco and Canadian newcomer Jessica Matten. Time will tell how much Momoa can commit, but should we look forward to Netflix’s Frontier?
