The most advanced indoor snow center in the world is coming to Grand Prairie with a scheduled opening in 2018.That's right, you'll soon be able to do your snow skiing in the DFW area.

According to WFAA-TV, the Grand Alps Resort will be located on Belt Line Road, just north of I-30 and will also include a full service Hard Rock Hotel.

Unlike outdoor ski resorts, the Grand Alps will be able to operate year-round.

This expertly designed facility is 1,220' in length, 570' wide and just under 300' tall featuring the longest indoor ski run in the world. Multiple ski runs accommodate beginner, intermediate and expert skiers, and thrill snowboarders with an Olympic half pipe and snowboarding course. The snow center includes a snow play area, snow tubing, tobogganing, a luge track and a winter wonderland for kids of all ages.

We expect over 1.3 million visitors annually. After a day on the slopes, visitors can enjoy a 300 room, 4-Star hotel with rooftop pool complex, multiple restaurants, a family entertainment center, a digital cineplex and many specialty shops.

This is especially awesome for people, like myself, that love to ski but aren't afforded the time to be able to travel to New Mexico or Colorado. Like the young kids might say, this is a game changer.

Just think about how awesome it would be to go snow skiing on a brutally hot Texas day.

They plan to break ground in 2015, open in 2018. Best of all, they hope to create 1,900 jobs with this new resort.
