Hugh Jackman has made intimations that he might be getting tired playing Wolverine, even with 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and 'The Wolverine 2' all being worked on. Perhaps the best way to liven things up is to play a villain for a change, and that might be what he does next as he's in talks to join Joe Wright's Peter Pan update/origin film 'Pan' as the villainous Captain Blackbeard.

This comes from Variety and our first question is "Blackbeard?" Perhaps they'll fix it shortly, as the pirate most commonly associated with the Peter Pan story is Captain Hook, the one who lost his hand to Pan, only for it to be fed to a crocodile. But as Variety also notes this is an origin story, perhaps Commissioner Gordon will show up at the end to give Pan Captain Hook's card. .

Jackman is a great actor, though most of his biggest hits have been the 'X-Men' films. Earlier this year 'Prisoners' was a solid if modest performer, and it's hard to say if people went to see 'Les Miserables' because of him. Then there's a film like 'Real Steel,' which was meant to launch a franchise, but didn't. The clock is ticking on 'Pan' as the film is scheduled to be released June 26, 2015, so Jackman's participation should be shored up shortly.
