What is it with the holidays that has most guys "Popping the question"? Didn't I read somewhere, years ago, that popping the proverbial question or even getting married around the holidays was "TABOO".

I guess times have changed because I was heart broken to hear Shania got hitched up, then to hear that Kellie Pickler wed Kyle Jacobs on New Years Day.  Miranda Lambert might as well have gotten married I saw where Blake Shelton gave her a "New ZEBRA STRIPED Colt AR-15", shoot as far as I'm concerned that is married as married can get country style! Whats next is Blake gonna take her huntin' too?

The holiday season is proving to be busy with nuptial news for the Nashville music community

On Monday, contemporary Christian mainstay Rebecca St. James shared news of her Christmas Day engagement to fellow musician Jacob Fink. And Tuesday, country singer Kellie Pickler confirmed that she and songwriter Kyle Jacobs tied the knot on New Year's Day.

Pickler and Jacobs wed after a six-month engagement in an intimate ceremony on a private island in the Caribbean, Pickler's rep said in a news release.

"Private Island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, Rum in the other," Pickler wrote via Twitter on Tuesday. "Someone just called me 'Mrs. Jacobs.' … sounds nice."

The couple got engaged in June, when Jacobs proposed on a beach in Florida. Fink proposed to St. James at her family's farm in Franklin, her reps said.

Over the course of her career, the bride-to-be has had a lot to say about marriage — she's known for 2000 tune "Wait for Me," which shared her beliefs about remaining celibate until marriage. (She also bolstered that belief in several books, including Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance.)

"We are truly amazed at finding our dreams and ideals met in the love we've found," St. James said in a release. She plans to release her new album, I Will Praise You, on April 5, and her new book, What is He Thinking?, in September.
