High School Softball Pitcher Dominates By Striking Out Everybody in Amazing Perfect Game
The sporting world might still be buzzing about Chicago White Sox pitcher Philip Humber’s recent perfect game, but he’s not the only one to score one of the most elusive achievements on the diamond.
Andrea Chiaradio, of Stonington High School in Stonington, Connecticut, pitched a perfect game last Saturday against Norwich Free Academy by striking out every single batter she faced — 21 of them over the course of the seven-inning game.
Chiaradio was so dominant, in fact, the opposing team didn’t even hit a foul ball. That’s right — they never made contact with any of her pitches.
Chiaradio is reportedly only the second softball pitcher in history in the state to toss a perfect game while striking out every batter faced.
Chiaradio’s coach, Ann-Marie Houle, was truly in awe of her accomplishment:
I was thinking no-hitter and then perfect game (as the game progressed), but not with 21 strikeouts. That’s unheard of. It’s historic. I was tearing up a little at the end when she got a standing ovation.”
And, oh by the way, Stonington won the game, 3-0.
