Earlier in the summer we were excited to learn that 'Breaking Bad' star Aaron Paul was in talks to take the title role in HBO's upcoming drama 'The Missionary,' after the AMC drama's 2013 end of course.  As of now, it appear that Paul wasn't able to commit to the HBO period drama's European shoot, and the pay-cable network has subbed in 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' star Benjamin Walker for the titular role.  So what's 'The Missionary' all about?

Per Deadline, we've learned that 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' star Benjamin Walker will take yet another title role, appearing in HBO's upcoming Cold War drama 'The Missionary.'  When the project was first announce back in June, 'Breaking Bad' star Aaron Paul had reportedly been eyed for the part, though apparently couldn't commit to the lengthy overseas shoot.

Set in Berlin during the late 1960s, ‘The Missionary’ centers on a young American missionary (Walker) who becomes involved with the CIA, helping a young woman escape the city.  The project will be written by Charles Randolph (‘The Interpreter’) and produced by Stephen Levinson, author Malcolm Gladwell and frequent Levinson collaborator Mark Wahlberg.

If picked up to series, ‘The Missionary’ would mark the second of HBO’s period dramas alongside ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ as well as the second Cold War drama developed for cable this season along with FX’s Keri Russell KGB spy drama ‘The Americans.’  Tell us if you have any interest in seeing Benjamin Walker as 'The Missionary' in the comments below!
