Speaking to Indiewire’s Shadow and Act recently, Halle Berry said she plans to strap on the leather jumpsuit once again and return to the role of Storm in Bryan Singer’s upcoming ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’

As fans of the ‘X-Men’ franchise know, Berry played Storm, the weather-controlling mutant, in Singer’s first two ‘X-Men’ movies and in the much maligned third entry, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand,’ directed by Brett Ratner.

If Berry does return to the role -- her casting hasn't yet been confirmed --  she’ll be joining her former mutant cast mates Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Aaron Ashmore, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan, who have all been confirmed by Singer to be appearing in ‘Days of Future Past.’

The next ‘X-Men’ movie, a sequel to prequel/reboot ‘X-Men: First Class,’ has a time-travel bent, which, we assume, is the device that will allow the older franchise cast members to share the screen with Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy, who played younger versions of the X-Men in ‘First Class.’

We’re excited by this ever-expanding cast. It’s hard not to get excited with so many talented performers returning to these geeky iconic screen roles. Still, we’d be lying if we said we’d been waiting with baited breath to hear about the news of Halle Berry’s return to the comic book movie franchise. Her Storm was arguably one of the weakest characters from the first batch of films.

Here’s hoping that if Berry returns as Storm, she’ll look and act a little more like the tough and badass comic book version of Storm comic nerds have grown to love over the past few decades and less like the frowny face mutant who bored us to tears in ‘The Last Stand.’
