Gwyneth Paltrow, Holly Williams

Gwyneth Paltrow made a giant leap onto the country scene last year with the film ‘Country Strong’ and the film’s soundtrack, which featured four of Paltrow’s songs. Although she generated major label interest with her performances in both, Paltrow hasn’t quite become a mainstay in the country world — at least, not yet, that is. A recent tweet from Hank Williams‘ daughter Holly Williams has fans wondering if Paltrow is in the genre to stay.

“Early morning session with the brilliant harmonies of @GwynethPaltrow. Even at 8:30am she sounds like a bluegrass angel #wonderwoman,” Williams tweeted Thursday morning (Feb. 16). Representatives from Williams’ camp did confirm that she is working on another record, and comments on the tweet suggest that she may be working with famed Nashville-based producer Charlie Peacock. Still, reps haven’t let it slip whether this duet will or will not appear on the new record.

The two female stars have collaborated in the past, with Williams singing and playing guitar behind Paltrow at Paltrow’s first-ever live television performance, which took place at the 2010 CMA Awards. In an interview with The Boot a while back, Paltrow opened up about her love for a variety of country stars, including Williams.

“I was very much into Loretta Lynn and Dolly, and a lot of newer girls, too, like Miranda, and [Hillary Scott] with Lady Antebellum, I love her voice. And Holly Williams’ record, I love!” she said. ”I like that older style, soulful country. When you can hear the pain in the woman’s voice, those are the women that I really connected with.”

With news of this collaboration out, we expect tons of Paltrow fans will be waiting on the edge of their seats to hear and connect with her voice once again.
