It's been a while since we've had a new film from director Eli Roth, who's spent some time producing ('Aftershock') and working on the Netflix series 'Hemlock Grove.' But he's finally returned with his latest horror vision, 'The Green Inferno,' and we've got the first full trailer for this new flick, which promises to be pretty intense.

Inspired in part by the Italian cult horror film 'Cannibal Holocaust,' Roth's 'Green Inferno' follows a group of privileged college kids as they head off from New York City to the Amazon in an effort to save the rainforest, but what they find there is something far more dangerous than demolition and bulldozers: a native and feral tribe that doesn't exactly need their "help."

'The Green Inferno' played at last year's Fantastic Fest film festival, and it's definitely a brutal return to form for Roth, delivering on all the blood and mayhem you've come to expect from the director, with a dash of cultural commentary thrown in for good measure. The trailer above does a great job at merely hinting at the horrors to come, unlike most horror trailers, which always seem so eager to show off some of the more intense moments before you make it to the theater.

'The Green Inferno' stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, and Kirby Bliss Blanton, and hits theaters on September 5.
