‘Goon 2′ in the Works? Jay Baruchel Tweets Out Some Movie Updates
Thanks to social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, actors and creative types are free to spill the beans on projects that normally would be announced via the trades and press releases. Jay Baruchel just hopped aboard that bandwagon with a series of recent tweets revealing his plans for 'Goon 2,' a sequel (obviously) to this past winter's disarmingly funny and sweet hockey comedy starring Seann William Scott and co-writer Baruchel himself. So how much did the comedian give up?
To simplify things, we'll slap his tweets together in one paragraph:
Though I do feel the need to clarify something from the last article I posted, GOON 2 will be written by
@jessechabot and myself... Evan Goldberg will be involved as a producer and we will all be working our asses off to make as awesome a flick as possible... Please know this: GOON is pretty close to sacred for all of us involved and we would only be entertaining the idea of continuing the saga if we were all equally convinced that Doug, Laflamme, Stevesy, the Russians, Rolie, Ogilvy Belchy and Eva were only getting started... We will give them and you guys the epic, violent, heartfelt awesomeness that is not just deserved but required. HIGH. LAND. ERS.
Baruchel goes on to say -- er, tweet -- that Michael Dowse will once again sit in the director's chair. The actor doesn't gift us with a production start date, but we probably shouldn't complain and just take what we're given. After all, the idea of a 'Goon 2' is music to our ears. (Music = Canadian accents, immense profanity, the sound of fists hitting faces.)
And if you haven't seen 'Goon' yet, do yourself a favor and see it, eh?
