God of War: Ascension Super Bowl Ad Shows the Ashes of the Past

Tonight's Super Bowl will be graced by the God of War!

The live-action trailer for God of War: Ascension is already online, but a special 60-second version will be played on the live stream of the game on CBS Sports. As we can see below, the trailer is of an epic, yet somber nature. It shows us snippets of Kratos' wife and daughter, way before all of the unpleasantries that caused him to go on one of the most impressive campaigns for revenge the world has ever seen.

The song in the background seems to be a remixed version of Ellie Goulding's "Hanging On" and it certainly adds to the tragic nature of the storyline. We may love him for his ability to tear mythological creatures several new holes, but it's cool to see the softer side of Kratos, even if it's just for a few seconds.
