Back when the individual Rogue One character posters were first released, there was a noted absence. Yes, Darth Vader, obviously, but Jyn Erso’s father was also left out of the bunch. Even Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Krennic — who is, besides Vader, the big villain of this movie — got his own poster. But now Mads Mikkelsen finally gets his spot in the sun, as a new poster of Galen Erso surfaced online today during that Rogue One Twitter event.

Mikkelsen’s role was shrouded in all kinds of mystery early on during the film’s promotion, so the fact that he was left out of the bit poster reveal is probably not too surprising. Lucasfilm probably didn’t want fans guessing his involvement until precisely when they were supposed to. Mikkelsen traditionally plays villains, so his role as the father of the protagonist was unexpected, but Galen Erso also has the added complication of being the primary engineer behind the construction of the Death Star. Krennic had the idea, but Galen was the one working closely with him to create a superweapon for the tyrannical dictatorship that threatened his family in the first place. Will he give into the Empire’s ideology and become an antagonist to Jyn and her crew, or will he help his daughter out? There’s no telling how deeply he’s been sucked into the Dark Side until we see the movie, but what we know for sure is that Galen Erso is going to be very important.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters December 16.
