Friends of the Abilene Public Library Annual Book Sale to Accept Credit Cards
This year for the first time in the history of the Friends of the Abilene Public Library Annual Book Sale, they will begin accepting credit/debit cards. Abilene Public Library (APL) Librarian Janis Test said jokingly “we’ve finally made it to the 21st century, nonetheless we are very excited about accepting credit/debit card with proper ID of course.”
The 24th annual book sale at the Abilene Civic Center is scheduled for June 13th thru the 16th. This years sale includes over one hundred thousand books plus videos, cassette tapes, DVDs, CDs, records and other unique items.
Friends of the APL members get a first crack at all the books during the ‘Friends Only’ preview sale on Thursday. Friends memberships are only $15.00 and may be purchased at the door. The general public gets in starting Friday at 10am. Prices on most hardbound books are $1.75, paperbacks are 75 cents and the children’s books are sold by the inch, for $1.25 an inch. On Sunday, from 1pm – 4pm the famous “Bag-o-Books” sale begins and $6.00 will get you a bag so that you can fill it with books.
