The 19th Annual Big Country Balloon Fest is set to take flight September 27th and 28th at Redbud Park in Abilene. Robin Hicks event organizer said "this is our biggest year yet, we have twenty balloons that have agreed to participate in our Big Country Balloon Fest." The festival also includes a 1k kid and family 'Fun Run', music, food and games. check out the Balloon Fest schedule.

- Balloon flights at 7am and 5pm Friday and Saturday
- Balloon glow at first dark Friday and Saturday nights
- Line Kite Team from Austin will perform with lighted kites both nights
- Transporters music Friday

Festival booths are open 10am - 10pm Friday and Saturday. There will be a 1k Fun Run for Kids and their families Saturday starting at 8:30am. The Balloon Fest 10k run has been canceled for 2013. The Park and Ride shuttle bus from the Mall will run from 4:30pm till 11pm both days. Team Leaders & volunteers are still needed to work Thursday through Sunday. You must be 18 or older to work. Sponsored by the Optimist Club Unlimited of Abilene.
