Although the biggest hook for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' is how the film will combine both the original X-Men team and the cast of 'X-Men: First Class,' it will have no shortage of new mutant heroes and villains. The most intriguing of them (for reasons beyond the movie's story itself) is Quicksilver, the Marvel Universe's answer to the Flash. A new still from the film gives us our first look at actor Evan Peters in the role.

Flanked by his far more famous co-stars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto) and James McAvoy (young Professor X), Peters' Quicksilver look is a little underwhelming. After all, are we really supposed to get excited over a first reveal of a superhero wearing sneakers and a leather jacket? That's what Wolverine is wearing the same scene! Hopefully, Quicksilver will get himself a proper X-Men uniform at some point during the film because this will simply not do. However, fans will definitely be pleased to see that his trademark silver hairdo has made the jump from the page to the screen.

Outside of Quicksilver's look, this new still raises plenty of additional questions. Questions like: Why is Professor X walking? Why is it snowing indoors? Why is Magneto wearing what appears to be a prison uniform? Does Magneto know that Quicksilver is his son or was that changed from the character's comic book origins?

It's going to be especially interesting to see how director Bryan Singer depicts Quicksilver since the character will also be appearing in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron,' where he's being played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Early word suggests that Peters' Quicksilver is a very small role, but who knows? Weird superhero legal kerfuffles like this don't happen every day, so getting to see how two very different films treat the same character should prove interesting.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' arrives in theaters on May 23, 2014.
