His fans had long been waiting for it, and Eric Church finally premiered his ‘Springsteen’ music video on Friday, April 13. A direct tribute to the Boss, Church wears a vintage American flag around his neck and sports his aviator sunglasses in several of the shots as well.

To give the video an even more traditional Americana patina, Church and his camp shot most of the footage in a suburban neighborhood in Murfreesboro, Tenn. With kids on bikes, Church on piano and a garage playing the part of the stage, the video definitely gives a glimpse of the most classic version of American life. In a behind-the-scenes clip of the video on Church’s website, the singer says it feels very personal to him.

“It’s just one of those songs that every time I sing it I’m 17 again, and I’m back where I’m from, in that community, and thinking about or being with that girl,” he says. “It’s just one of those songs that transports you, and it’s just kind of — at least for me — a little bit of a time machine.”

Church, a native of Granite Falls, N.C., is currently out on his successful Blood, Sweat and Beers Tour, which wraps August 19 in Gilford, N.H.
