Easy April Fools Day Pranks

I have been the recipient of April Fool’s Day pranks more than I’ve given. This year, I’m going to be ready. I’ve decided to put together a list of quick, easy, but good pranks. Some are ideal for work, others for home, and some are good to use on anyone – even complete strangers. But all of these pranks require minimal preparation, so when you forget April Fool’s Day again, just refer to this list and you’re messing with friends, family and coworkers like a well-prepared jokester.

1

Parking Lot Prank

If your office has a good view of the parking lot like mine, leave a note on someone’s car apologizing for an accident that never actually happened. Say something like:

"I'm so sorry I hit your car! I tried to find you, but I was in a hurry. Call me when you get this and I will do what I can to fix this."

If you can watch their reaction out a window or from the comfort of your car, that's great. Take the prank a step further and include the phone number of a friend or a coworker on your note.

If you're feeling ambitious, you can leave your own phone number. When they call, act like you've injured yourself in the fake accident, and you are waiting in the emergency room. If all goes perfectly, you'll be able to watch your victim's reaction from your view of the parking lot.

Office Bathroom Prank

For the more childish prankster, this one should be fun. Buy some underwear, write a co-worker’s name in them, then leave them on the floor of the office bathroom.

This is good for varying levels of grossness. You can simply get a clean pair of "tighty whiteys" and write your victim's name with a Sharpie, and that would be fine. Just make sure the name is as visible as possible, so people can see who they belong to without getting to close. But you could also fill said underwear with anything from baby food to , well, use your imagination.

For best results, be sure as many people as possible get a chance to see the underwear before your victim figures out what is going on.

3

The Sink Prank

Maybe you've heard of the sink prank, but I've always wanted to do this, so I'm including it.

If you have a sink with a sprayer, put a rubber band around the handle when nobody's looking. This automatically keeps the nozzle in spray-mode. Make sure the nozzle is pointing up and outward. The next person to use the sink will get hosed down.

Beautiful. But don't take this easy prank for granted. Grab an empty pitcher and test the prank to make sure that the water pressure doesn't redirect the sprayer. There would be nothing worse for this prank than if it missed your victim altogether. A little attention to detail will go a long way.

The "I'm Going to Infect You" Prank

This one is great for an office environment, but can be applied anywhere that you spend 30 minutes or more.

Carry a bottle of lice powder or pink-eye medicated drops around with you. Casually leave it in the bathroom when no one else is around. The key for this one is stealth; don't let anyone see you leave the medication behind in the bathroom. To add more fuel to the fire, scratch your head or rub your eyes whenever you're around someone. Soon enough, the place will be abuzz with paranoid chatter and people avoiding you like, well, someone with pink eye.

The Kid-Switch Prank

Here's one for those with kids, to get them in the April Fool's Day spirit at the beginning of the day.

Wait until the kids are fast asleep to switch them to different beds while they are sleeping. If you only have one child, make a bed for them in the bathtub.

Here's a friendly warning from a concerned parent: don't put the 4-year old in the top bunk without a guardrail. And if you decide to use the bathtub idea, make sure your child can't accidentally turn the water on and harm themselves. Be sure that wherever you decide to have your kid wake up, they will be safe while they sleep.
