The one thing you don't want to hear from a drug company is that their contraceptives don't work. Especially if you are taking them. However, that is what the Pfizer company has done and they are recalling the drugs Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets.

Apparently certain lot numbers of these products are on a recall list, which can be found on the Pfizer website, because they are not strong enough to prevent pregnancy. Nearly 1 million of the packets have been recalled by the company.

The company states on it's website that a packaging mistake is to blame. Saying that:

"An investigation by Pfizer found that some blister packs may contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredient tablets and that the tablets may be out of sequence. The cause was identified and corrected immediately."

Pfizer has advised that if you are currently taking one of the recalled products you should begin using a non-hormonal contraceptive, return the product to the pharmacy or clinic where obtained and see your doctor.
