Stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James hit up 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' last night to premiere the final 'Divergent' trailer, which whittles down this complicated sci-fi world into the main plot points -- society is divided up into factions, one breaks from the mold, the government doesn't like that so much.

To be more specific, some sort of event occurred in this futuristic Chicago setting that prompted the government, led by Kate Winslet of all people, to divide society into factions based on certain characteristics in order to maintain stability -- Dauntless for the brave, Abnegation for the selfless, Erudite for the intelligent, Amity for the peaceful and Candor for the honest. Tris (Woodley), however, is known as "divergent," meaning she's able to break from these molds and, as the trailer says, conquer her fears -- which apparently is a rarity in the future.

Yes, it all sounds fairly complicated, but the book series on which the film is based has an insanely dedicated following and Lionsgate has already signed off on developing the sequel novel, 'Insurgent,' for the big screen. So something must be working, right?

'Divergent' will hit theaters March 21, and also stars the likes of Maggie Q, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney and Miles Teller. Watch the trailer that premiered on 'Kimmel' above and check out Part 1 and 2 of the late-night host's interview with Woodley and James below.
