Dierks Bentley, Elle King Bring ‘Different for Girls’ to 50th CMA Awards

Dierks Bentley and Elle King joined forces for a stirring performance of their 2016 CMA Award winning collaboration "Different for Girls" on Wednesday evening (Nov. 2) at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

The two singers won Musical Event of the Year for the song — written by ‎J.T. Harding and ‎Shane McAnally — earlier in the day when it was announced during a broadcast of Good Morning America.

Bentley, dressed in a black leather jacket, graced the stage alone and sang the first verse while black and white images of King playing her banjo were displayed on screens behind him. He then joined King on a stage in the middle of the audience as the arena was lit up in the glow of cell phones. Bentley and King's voices blended impeccably and the duo's admiration for each other was evident.

Bentley was thrilled to be nominated in a category with several other memorable collaborations.

“It’s a big deal. To go from playing on Broadway [in Nashville] to right now …” he reflects (quote via the Boot). “This song, I lost a lot of sleep over it being a single, because I was just scared to death people weren’t going to get it, or it was just too much for people to handle. To be nominated is a huge deal … There are a lot of collaborations up.”
