Dead Island Riptide Developers Apologize for ‘Gruesome’ Statue

Not long after the Dead Island Riptide Zombie Bait Edition had been announced today, Deep Silver took to TwitLonger to apologize for the statue it included in the package.

Apparently a lot of people were disturbed or offended by the bonus material packaged in the Zombie Bait Edition. Deep Silver announced that they'd be packing a foot-tall headless, arm-less, bikini-wearing statue of a mangled torso. And even though they might already be zombie fans and therefore used to similar scenes of gore or violence, the inclusion of this statue was too much for the Dead Island gaming community.

In the statement on TwitLonger, Deep Silver said, "We sincerely regret this choice. We are collecting feedback continuously from the Dead Island community, as well as the international gaming community at large, for ongoing internal meetings with Deep Silver's entire international team today. For now, we want to reiterate to the community, fans and industry how deeply sorry we are, and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again."
