The Dallas Cowboys lost a close game to the Baltimore Ravens 31-29 over the weekend. But, this loss was a lot easier to take than their previous losses, because the Cowboys never lost the fight to try to win - and that impressed me.

Sure, it would have been easy for them to give up when the Ravens took a commanding 24-13 lead in the 3rd quarter.  Heck, I even thought the game was pretty much over and actually grabbed for the remote to turn the TV channel to something else.  But, after cooling down a bit, I kept watching. I'm glad I did because the game got very, very interesting and caused my blood pressure to sky rocket.

After the Ravens' Jacoby Jones took a kickoff 108 yards for a TD to make it 24-13, the Cowboys came right back with two scoring drivers, a touchdown and a field goal, to make it 24-23.  But, the Ravens took the momentum out of the Cowboys and scored a TD with a little over 4 minutes left in the game to make it 31-23.

That's when things got interesting.

The Cowboys marched right down the field and Romo threw a great pass to Dez Bryant for a TD to make it 31-29 with 32 seconds left.  This is when I really started to get excited.  But, that excitement quickly was deflated as Dez dropped a sure 2 point conversation that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime.

At that point, I thought it was over.  I even told my brother, who I was texting back and forth throughout the game, that it was over.

More times than not, the infamous onside kick fails. I thought this would be one of those fail times. But, they got it! And, with the help of a pass interference penalty on the Ravens, the Cowboys were in position to kick a field goal to win it with just seconds left.  Dan Bailey, who had been perfect so far this year, missed the field goal wide left.  Game over.

Obviously, not the way I wanted the game to end, but, I was proud of the Cowboys and their will to fight until the end.  They ran the ball well, Romo passed the ball pretty good, and the defense got some stops.  But, in the end, it was penalties that really messed up an otherwise good outing for the 2-3 Cowboys.  At least it wasn't a loss like the embarrassing one against Chicago, who I think is actually not as good as the Ravens.

Next up for the Cowboys are the Carolina Panthers this Sunday at Noon.
