Dallas Cowboys fans across the nation got a free “stress test” courtesy of the ‘boys overtime 27-24 win over the Washington Redskins in one of the NFL‘s biggest rivalries. Cowboy kicker, Dan Bailey, helped provide the rapid heart rates by barely punching in a  39 yard field goal to give the Cowboys their third win in a row and a share of first place with the New York Giants.

After going up by 10 points with 10 minutes left in the first half and dominating most of the game, the “cardiac Cowboys”, all of a  sudden, found themselves down 14-10 going into halftime when the Redskins cranked off 14 unanswered points.  Things looked to be going bad as the second half started the same way the first half ended, with the Redskins driving down the field, but the Cowboy defense held them off and the ‘skins were only able to make it 17-10 before the Cowboy offense, who were basically flatlined since the first quarter, finally woke up.

Tony Romo threw 2 touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to lead Dallas to 14 unanswered points of their own to make it 24-17 with a little over 8 minutes left in the game.

The Redskins were not done yet.

Rex Grossman connected with Donte  Stallworth with 14 seconds left in the game to tie the seesaw battle  and to overtime they went.

After winning the coin toss, Washington took the ball down the field and looked like they were heading for a comeback win but Redskin kicker, Graham Gano missed a 52 yard kick and gave the Cowboys the ball to set up Dan Bailey’s winning field goal.

I’m telling you, it doesn’t matter what their records are when they meet, but Cowboys and Redskins games are always nail biters and probably make me curse more than any game during the season.
