Chris Young has announced the release of his next album: Losing Sleep, his seventh record, will be out on Oct. 20.

Young revealed the big news about his new album on Wednesday (Aug. 23), via social media. In addition to sharing the record's title, album cover and release date via Instagram, Young offered up a few more details about the project in a Facebook Live chat: It's "kind of that progression for me as an artist," he says, meaning that there will be "stuff that's more traditional" and "some stuff that's more in between" traditional and Young's current single, the album's more-progressive title track.

"Honestly," Young adds, "it's just music that I love."

Although Young wouldn't share Losing Sleep's full track listing -- "I would show you the back [of the album]," Young teased in the video, "but the track listing is on there, and I don't want to give it to you just yet" -- he did play viewers a snippet of one of the songs, a ballad called "Where I Go When I Drink." Young co-wrote all of the record's tracks -- a first for him.

"Oh my god, I'm excited," Young said in his Facebook Live video. "If you all knew how many hours of work went into this ..."

Fueled by the boom-tap of a contemporary drum machine, the single “Losing Sleep” infuses a hearty dose of pop into Young’s music, while his deep country timbre keeps him firmly planted in the genre. Written by Young, Chris DeStefano and Josh Hoge, “Losing Sleep” is full of layered verses that slowly build into a crashing chorus, giving Young room to breathe and let loose with each round. The song follows a string of No. 1 hits for Young, including his 2016 duet with Cassadee Pope, “Think of You,” and, most recently, his collaboration with Vince Gill, “Sober Saturday Night.”
