Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt Booked for Special 2016 Grammy Awards Performance

As expected, Chris Stapleton will be playing the 2016 Grammy Awards -- but it won't be a run-of-the-mill performance. Rather, Bonnie Raitt and Gary Clark Jr. will join the rising country star for a tribute to the late B.B. King.

King, a blues legend and guitar aficionado, passed away in mid-May in Las Vegas, Nev., after spending a couple of weeks in hospice. He was 89 years old. There is no word on what songs Stapleton, Raitt and Clark will be singing, but all three are exceptionally talented and are stellar selections for the tribute.

Stapleton is poised for a potentially big night at the 2016 Grammy Awards: He is nominated for Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, as well as the all-genre Album of the Year award. Both of his tribute partners are already Grammy winners themselves; Raitt will release a new album on Feb. 26.

In addition to Stapleton, Raitt and Clark Jr., the Mavericks, Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt and Little Big Town are all scheduled to perform during the 2016 Grammy Awards festivities.

The 2016 Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on Feb. 15 beginning at 8PM ET. The televised ceremony will be preceded by the 2016 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony,which is scheduled to run from 3:30PM ET until 6:30PM ET, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. The latter event will be streamed live via the Grammy Awards’ official website and CBS.com.
