September 26, 2012 It's time for the 18th annual Big Country Balloon Fest, Friday September 28th, Saturday September 29th and Sunday September 30th, 2012 at Red Bud Park here in Abilene. Big Country Balloon Fest is a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization Optimist Club Unlimited of Abilene. This years balloon fest offers a wider variety of food, games, entertainment and Fun.

September 26, 2012 I checked with Elections Administrator's in Nolan, Brown and Taylor Counties, there appears to be two things all three administrators agree upon, one is 'the best way to get registered to vote'. Kristi Allyn, the Taylor County Elections Administrator said the guaranteed best way to get registered, is to go directly to the 'Elections Office' and register there. Taylor county was the only one that has several locations through-out the city where you can obtain a voter registration form.
September 24, 2012 The Wylie Christian Church is a church that I've often referred to, as the little church on the hill. So when I was asked by Jon and Don a couple of church elders, to help get the word out, I jumped at the chance. Wylie Christian Church is in dire need of a "real playground" for the children, so the church is hosting a party of with lots of live bands this Saturday, September 29th from 2 - 6 p.m. on the churches parking lot at 6250 Buffalo Gap road.
September 24, 2012 This past Sunday, I got up way early to do some stuff, then get ready to crack open a few beers to watch the Dallas Cowboys game. The only problem was, I was out of beer, and by the time I got done with my stuff and went to the store, it was not noon yet. Yep, the 'blue law' got me again.
September 19, 2012 As I got everyone pumped up to go on the Rudy Cruise, I planned a little surprise for a good deal of the Cruisers. We'd make one final dash to the the waterparks. I couldn't have planned it any better, because last weekend when we got into Galveston, the waterparks were closing down for the winter season. You'd think with Galveston being on the coast that at least Schlitterbahn would be open year round, right? Well it is.

September 11, 2012 Funny man Rodney Carrington will be In Abilene this Saturday at the Civic Center at 7 p.m. What you may not know about Rodney is, he is a very giving person. So much so, that he has his own 'Rodney Carrington Foundation' that gives money to multiple charities. Last Thursday Sept. 6th he presented a $50,000 check to one of his home-town charities.
September 11, 2012 Every year when 9/11 comes around I find myself day dreaming a lot, it's like I'm in second grade all over again just sitting there motionless and wishing I had the power to redo that day over again and be a real American Hero and save everyone. You know, like that book 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'. 9/11 is the day I lost my innocence. I thought this would never happen here, surely not in America the greatest country in the universe.

September 7, 2012 Thanks mainly to a anonymous donor who is fitting the bill for the 'First Annual Little Barons Ball' to be held at Prime Time Family Entertainment Center. Childhood cancer survivors 18 or younger are invited to attend an afternoon of fun, food, games, fellowship and a chance to hang out with others that share their plight. Jacque Thweatt Community Manager for the American Cancer Society (ACS) says "we are inviting mom, dad, brothers and sisters to come to the Little Batons Ball scheduled for this Sunday, September 9th.
