December 12, 2012 A 5 year old little girl calls 911 to get the police to put her moms car back in the drive way for her. She gets home from school and can't find mom anywhere. She finds the car keys and decides she will take the car but then realizes she can't reach the pedals. She calls 911 for help.
December 11, 2012 There are many great movies to watch during Christmas break and you may or may not agree with my 5, but they are some of my favorites. Actually one isn't really a favorite but it brings back memories of Christmas at my grandma's every year so it makes the list just for that reason alone.
December 11, 2012 Nothing puts me in the Christmas spirit faster than Tchaikovsky's music from the Nutcracker ballet. In fact, the 'Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy' puts me in the mischievous mood wanting to peek at the packages under the tree. I shared this little fact with a friend in New England who, in return, sent me this awesome version of the song. Most importantly it's played on a bunch of high dollar cognac and wine glasses; and the sound is incredible.

All of this makes everybody's stress level go through the roof. So, forget the stress, and check out a Christmas classic that everybody loves. No matter how many times you have seen it, Cheech and Chong's "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" will put a smile on your face.

Queen the sweet little Border Collie was adopted by what Aaron Vannoy Executive Director for the Abilene Animal Control Shelter says is a "Border Collie rescue group." "The dog 'Queenie' that you came and did as the KEAN Critter has found a rescue group to take him. This is great news and another success. I will share photos of when they come get Queenie" Vannoy said. A big thank you goes to everyone that helped with this awesome little critter. The smartest and best pets come from animal shelters like the one right here in Abilene.

Curtis the little one year old Jack Russell, Wirehair terrier mix was adopted on his final extension day. Amy B. of Abilene gave Curtis a loving home, so a big special thanks goes to Miss Amy for caring enough to give a poor defenseless little critter a second chance at life. The smartest pets and nearly all movie and television pets were rescued from shelters just like ours. So no need in lining the pockets of breeders, when a smarter, better looking, more lovable pet is waiting for you at the Abilene Animal Shelter.

Guess who finally got to go home for the Holidays? Nina the Spaniel mix! She was finally adopted this past Saturday when the Abilene Animal Shelter and other rescue organizations held an 'emergency pet rescue' on the busiest shopping weekend of the year. I was overcome with joy when Animal Services Manager Aaron Vannoy informed me of Nina's good fortune. Thank you to everyone that shared and/or re-posted these KEAN Critter blogs, I will forever be grateful and a big thanks goes out to Nina's new family. May you all have a joyous Holiday season.
