As the old saying goes, "it ain't over till the fat lady has sung" and she has done so because the totals are in. The West Texas Rehab Center's telethon and auction raised, $1,202,646. This is not the all-time high for the Rehab center, in fact last year's telethon was, when the Rehab center raised just over 1.33 million dollars. This year's total is the fourth highest in the history of the Rehab center's telethon and auction.

Thomas the Treeing Walker Coonhound is a breed of hound descended from a cross between the English and American Foxhounds. The first time the breed was recognized as a separate breed in the United States was in early 1945. Amazingly the Abilene Animal Shelter has one of these rare breed dogs, and he needs a ride to the Dallas Ft. Worth area Coonhound Rescue group.

It's an awesome day for Hercules the German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. He went home with Abilene's best and most well known weatherman, Pete Beretta. I received a phone call Monday evening from a very excited Pete Beretta, who began the conversation by saying "Hercules came home with me, Jack! This big guy is so beautiful, you ought to see him after I gave him a bath." Beretta went on to say "you weren't kidding when you said this is the sweetest dog,Hercules is awesome brother!"
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has just released the RODEOHOUSTON Entertainment list for this year. It includes a little pop, rock, Tejano and yes, of course, country. There will be something for everyone this year, from young to old.
Quadrantids meteor shower is an annual event that will peak tonight through Thursday. NASA will be streaming a live webcam of the event or you can step outside to check it out yourself. However, the moon is quite bright (waxing gibbous moon) at the moment and could cause some interference with seeing the shower clearly.
