Abilene’s McMurry University to Honor Veterans with “A Salute to Our Military” on Thursday, November 8th

With Veterans Day coming up on Monday, Nov. 12th. McMurry University will honor all veterans with a special program entitled “A Salute to Our Military.” The program will feature a panel discussion titled “An Informed View of Military Experience and Historical Narratives” with an emphasis on the Vietnam era. Plus a military panel question and answer session and student readings from 'The Things They Carried' by Tim O’Brien and 'Platoon Leader' by James McDonough. Wreaths Across America Comes to the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene December 15th [VIDEO]

As we celebrate Veteran’s Day on Saturday November 10th, by thanking and remembering those men and women of our armed forces, both past and present. I am reminded of another day that I discovered last December. Nationwide the 2nd Saturday of December is declared by the Congress of the United States as, Wreaths Across America Day. On Saturday, December 15th, volunteers across America will place wreaths on each headstone at Arlington cemetery in Washington D.C. and at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
