In turn, Underwood was so excited to do something to honor our troops that she wrote a song specifically for the show. Carrie sang the song "Keep Us Safe" and then made it available for download with all the proceeds benefiting the ACM's "Lifting Lives" charit

The servicemen and women of our country make huge sacrifices to fight battles on our behalf and keep the freedoms we hold dear. One of those sacrifices is being away from their families and loved ones for long periods of time.

CBS took a night off from regularly scheduled programming to help the Academy of Country Music pay tribute to our troops. The Academy had big-time country talent and military join together to celebrate the hard work these men and women put in on a daily basis.
