Duke, the sweet, petite 2 year old Border Collie mix, got lucky. Since Duke was found roaming the street in front of the Abilene Animal Shelter, he was considered a stray. Strays are usually scheduled to be put to death after a customary waiting period. That time for Duke had run out. Luckily, a Border Collie rescue group from Conroe, Texas stepped forward and agreed to take Duke in at a foster home. Duke will live with Deborah, a Border Collie Rescue Volunteer, until a permanent home is found for Duke.
April 1, 2013 I told you last week that I was carrying on the tradition of Easter egg hunting that my grandmother started when I was a kid. My boyfriends son is almost 14 but still has fun hunting Easter eggs, especially if there's money involved.

April 1, 2013 A fond memory I have of my childhood is when my mom would surprise me and my younger brother, Greg, with a trip through the car wash. It was always such a pleasant, wonderful surprise when she pulled our family station wagon into the full service wash and asked for the "hot wax". What followed was 2-3 minutes of childhood bliss. I'm happy to report that some things never change, and my kids appreciate a trip through the car wash as much as I did.

March 27, 2013 Easter is coming up this Sunday and I have been thinking a lot about my grandparents. Both of my grandmothers would have us over for Easter dinner and then out hunting Easter eggs. Since they have both passed on I have now taken up carrying on the tradition.

All the bowls are one-of-a-kind hand crafted by artisans from around the Big Country and the Lone Star State. All funds raised go directly back into our community to feed the hungry, through church/community kitchens and/or pantries.
