The intersection of Catclaw and Southwest Drive will be very busy on Saturday, June 1st, as Kent's Harley-Davidson hosts the "Ride for Our Warriors" motorcycle rally, to benefit the "Wounded Warrior Project." The event will have several raffle items, live entertainment, a poker run, food and several special guests will be on hand signing autographs. So get on your bike and come join the fun.

Krista a Black and White Tabby is the Sweetest Most Lovable Cat in Abilene – KEAN Critters

Krista is an black and white four year old Tabby cat that was turned in by her owner. Abilene Animal Control Shelter employees tell me that Krista is a victim of domestic abuse. It seems that her owner (to save her own life) moved into the NOAH Project and then, she begged animal shelter officers to help find "really good homes" for her two pets. The family's dog was adopted Saturday. Now only Krista the cat remains, sad and alone at the animal shelter looking for a safer environment to call home.

The "Cars 4-A Cure" car show, dance and cruise benefits the Abilene Firefighters Association's Fill the Boot campaign for MDA. The a car show will feature lots of muscle cars and will take place at the Gattis parking lot at 2668 Buffalo Gap Road, Saturday, June 15th. Prizes and trophies will be awarded that afternoon.

The public was shocked yesterday when it was revealed that Angelina Jolie had undergone a preventive double or bi-lateral mastectomy, only she hadn't been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a preventive measure as tests showed she had an 87% chance of getting cancer in the future. I'm not sure if people were more shocked at what she had done or the fact that it had been kept secret for so long. Either way it was water cooler talk for the day.

I have several family members graduating from high school this year. As I try to keep up with who is graduating when and where. I thought I would get organized this year and put together a "graduation services list." Last year I went to the Abilene High graduation when my nephew was graduating from Cooper High School. While SIDS baffles doctors and devastates parents of young children, research is being done and information is being gathered to find out why this happens. In a fundraiser coming up May 18th at Trent ISD, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Dr. Hannah Kinney at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Kinney's research is helping lead the way in finding a reason and a cure for SIDS.
