Carrie Underwood and ‘True Blood’ Actor Stephen Moyer Remake ‘The Sound of Music’ for an NBC Special

Carrie Underwood will soon be channeling Julie Andrews when she plays the part of Maria in 'The Sound of Music'. The three hour production will air on NBC December 5th.

Now that takes care of the governess, what about the part of Captain Von Trapp, the part originally played by Christopher Plummer? This may surprise you, it did me. Playing the part of the Captain will be Stephen Moyer, better known as Vampire Bill from the HBO series 'True Blood'.

I found out a couple of things while researching Moyer. I did not realize he is British nor did I know he could sing. However, Moyer recently played Billy Flynn in a Hollywood Bowl production of 'Chicago'.

We all know Carrie Underwood can sing, but we don't know much (other than videos) about her acting skills. It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Underwood and Moyer and the new version of the movie itself.
