Americana duo Carolina Story will release their debut album with Black River Entertainment on July 13, and to celebrate, they've shared a special performance video exclusively with The Boot. Readers can press play above to watch the pair perform their song "Lonely Without You."

Perched on chairs in a sunny, well-appointed living room, Carolina Story's Ben and Emily Roberts show off their pitch-perfect harmonies during this performance of "Lonely Without You." "I'm out on the town, there's people all around / I'm lonely without you / The streets are all filled; they might as well be empty / I'm lonely without you / So lonely without you," the two sing. "And every night, in those hills, you will find me / Calling for you / And at morning light, you can bet you will find me / Seein' it through / 'Cause I'm lonely without you / So lonely without you ..."

The Roberts, now husband and wife, met in college, in 2007; he is from Arkansas, while she grew up in South Dakota. They co-wrote their first song on a camping trip in North Carolina, after dating for three months, and on the car ride home, they concocted the plans for Carolina Story.

“We don’t want to be seen as just a married couple, but we are married,” Emily Roberts says (she and Ben have been married since 2009). “That maturity -- that relationship -- is in our songs. As long as we’ve been married, we’ve been Carolina Story, so there is a lot of relationship growth and artistic growth here."

Both Ben and Emily Roberts worked a number of odd jobs while living in Nashville and trying to "make it" in the music business. In June of 2017, they signed to Black River's fledgling Americana imprint; the label is home to, among others, Kelsea Ballerini, but Carolina Story were Black River Americana's first signed act.

The Roberts co-wrote each of the songs on their forthcoming new album, Lay Your Head Down. The record was largely recorded at Nashville's Sound Stage, and produced by Nick Autry. Fans can visit CarolinaStory.com to pre-order the project and to keep up with the duo.
